Our Background

We are a spin-off from the Institute for Artificial Intelligence

WearHealth is a Spin-off from the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bremen - Germany. The project CHRONIOUS is the source of the inspiration. Chronious is a project which run from 2008 until 2012 and had the goal to define a European framework for a generic health status monitoring platform schema addressing people with chronic health conditions. To accomplish this goal a smart wearable platform for was realized. The platform addressed people suffering from  Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Renal Insufficiency and was based on multi-parametric sensors data processing. Through sensor data from wearables CHRONIOUS Intelligence detected any sign of abnormal health status and generated alerts. The collected data was notified to the healthcare providers by a dedicated and secure web platform.

WearHealth has a good relationship with Thad Starner, the technical lead on the wearable computing project Google Glass, where the goal was to create a ubiquitous computer. Google Glass is an optical head-mounted display in form of eyeglasses and is used for several investigations in the healthcare sector.

Innovative Technology Area

In the Universum Bremen scientific phenomens can be experienced at first hand. In the fish-like construction the scientific topics technology, mankind and nature are represented and made comprehensible. In the technology park is also located the research institute Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM with broad scientific and technological know-how. Further there is the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence on the campus.

Institute for Artificial Intelligence

In the Institute for Artificial Intelligence people work on central questions of modern knowledge and service society. Scientists use the potential of information and communication technology in various national and international projects. The 13 spin-off start-ups from TZI proof that the research is user-oriented.

Academic & Research

The University of Bremen where around 23.000 people learn, teach, do research and work is among the leaders of the German universities. It is one of eleven universities nationwide which can call themselves University of Excellence. The University of Bremen is distinguished by an international and intercultural diversity and is known for its strengths in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and human sciences.
